
Runnin' Bulldogs Sweep ASUN Weekly Swimming Awards

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - After outstanding individual performances against Catawba College over the weekend, freshmen Dakota Townley and Agustin Orechia of the Gardner-Webb University swimming team have been named ASUN Men's and Women's Swimmers of The Week.
For women's swimming, Townley takes a weekly award after two podium finishes in front of the home crowd. The Concord Township, Ohio native was first place with a time of 1:06.14 in the women's 100-yard backstroke, then followed up with second in the women's 200-yard IM with a time of 2:14.75.
Over in men's swimming, Orechia continued a fine freshman season four first place runs. The O Pina Spain native took the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 50.58, the men's 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:51.76, the men's 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.16 and finally, first in the men's 400-yard medley relay with a combined time of 3:20 next to teammates Manuel Bender and John Davis Cass.
The Runnin' Bulldogs are back in action on January 18th at Bost Pool, hosting Queens in ASUN action.
