No. 23 Men's Soccer Battles to Scoreless Draw at Radford

RADFORD, Va. – The No. 23 Gardner-Webb (10-1-2) men's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw at Radford (2-7-3, 1-2-1) on Saturday evening inside Cupp Stadium.

Breno Correia and Pius Ssebulime led the Runnin' Bulldogs with three shots each while Gardner-Webb dominated the stat sheet with a shot advantage of 17-2 but could not obtain a score over 90 minutes. Senior keeper Alan Horrocks was challenged only once, earning his ninth clean sheet in 13 games.

The Runnin' Bulldogs started the game out with control over possession. The slow pace and quick passing kept the ball out of the Highlanders' way early on. This resulted in the Bulldogs having six shots, with two of them being on goal. However, Ben Miller kept the Highlanders in the game, saving both scoring opportunities from the Runnin' Bulldogs.

Gardner-Webb started the second half the same as the first, controlling the pace of the game. Looking to build the pressure, they put up 11 shots over the final 45, with six of them being on goal. The Highlanders' offense was unable to build pressure off any of their opportunities in the half, only having 1 shot on goal.

The Runnin' Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, October 18, traveling to Spartanburg, S.C. to face the Spartans of USC Upstate. Kick for that contest is slated for 3 p.m.
