Longwood Visits Boiling Springs for Big South Men's Soccer Showdown

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb (8-1-1, 2-0) men's soccer team is set to return to action on Friday, October 3 as it faces off against conference foe Longwood inside Greene Harbison Stadium.

This contest marks the 15th all-time meeting between the Runnin' Bulldogs and Lancers with the series even at 6-6 and a pair of draws. Gardner-Webb picked up a 2-1 win in Farmville last season while remaining unbeaten against Longwood over the past four matches.

Gardner-Webb is coming off a 2-0 win at Presbyterian on Sunday, September 28. The Dawgs received first half goals from Jalen Moore and Franco Ocana while riding a stellar defense to their seventh clean sheet of the season.

Robbie Lyons leads the Runnin' Bulldogs with five goals and four assists on the season while teammate Breno Correia has also chipped in four helpers. Javan Ochieng and Jaylen Orr have scored four goals each as GWU is outscoring their opponents 22-6 through 10 games. Alan Horrocks has played all 900 minutes in goal, producing seven clean sheets and 23 saves.

Longwood has battled to a 2-5-2 record to start the season while searching for its first conference win of the year after being upended in the last contest, 3-0, versus High Point. The Lancers were also defeated 3-0 at Radford on September 20.

The Lancers are led by Brando Bedolla, who has a team-high three goals while adding an assist. Jesus Macaya leads Longwood with a pair of assists. For the year, Longowood is being outscored 17-9. Max Hinke and Youssou Ouendeno have split time in goal with Hinke playing 576 minutes, allowing 12 scores. Ouendeno has given up five goals in 233 minutes.
