Runnin' Bulldogs Head to Elon for Battle With the Phoenix

ELON, N.C. –  The Gardner-Webb men's basketball team is set to return to action on Saturday, November 15, making the short trip to take on the Phoenix of Elon in a non-conference battle.

Looking for its first win of the 2025-26 campaign, the Runnin' Bulldogs are coming off a tough loss to North Greenville in the home opener. Prior to that contest, the Dawgs opened the season at Power 5 schools Minnesota and Clemson.

Gardner-Webb is led in scoring by sophomore guard Jacob Hudson, who averages just under 13 points per game to go along with a team-leading 7.3 rebounds per game. Junior guard Julius Clark contributes 12.3 points per game while freshman guard Spence Sims adds 11 points per game.

As a team, the Runnin' Bulldogs shoot 39% from the field, including 29% from distance. GWU is being outrebounded on the season 44-29. Defensively, the Runnin' Bulldogs force their opponents into 11.7 turnovers per game while scoring 12 points per game off those miscues.

Elon comes into the contest with a 2-1 overall record after opening the season with wins over DII Belmont Abbey and UNC Greensboro. The Phoenix were upended 96-89 at Marshall in their last contest.

Elon is averaging 93 points per game while holding its opponents to 79 per contest. Chandler Cuthrell leads the team with 23 points per game while Kacper Klaczek adds 15 per contest. Randall Pettus and Bryson Cokely also average double-digit scoring, pouring in 12.3 points each.
