HIGH POINT, N.C. – Gardner-Webb (13-3-2) men's soccer dropped a 3-0 contest at No. 9 High Point (13-1-4) during the Big South Championship on Saturday evening inside Vert Stadium.
The Runnin' Bulldogs finished the night with nine total shots but were able to put only one on cage while High Point collected 13 shots, including five on goal. The Panthers earned four corners compared to only two for GWU.
After a scoreless first half, High Point took advantage of a redirected ball in the 57th minute as Daniel Lugo was able to squeeze one past Alan Horrocks for the game's first goal. The lead doubled in the 64th minute following a goal by Alfred Baffi before the Panthers put the game out of reach with the third and final score in the 70th minute of play.
Gardner-Webb will now await to see if its resume is good enough to make a return trip to the NCAA Tournament. The selection show will take place on Monday, November 17 and can be watched on NCAA.com.
