Runnin' Bulldogs Return Home for Matchup With Southeast Missouri State

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb football team (5-4, 3-2 OVC/Big South) returns to Spangler Stadium on Saturday, November 8, playing host to the Redhawks of Southeast Missouri State (3-6, 2-3 OVC/Big South).

SERIES HISTORY WITH SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE

Saturday's contest marks the 2nd all-time meeting between the Runnin' Bulldogs and Redhawks with Southeast Missouri State taking a win in the lone contest of the series. The Redhawks earned a 30-24 win in Cape Girardeau last season. This will be the first time the two teams have played in Boiling Springs.

SCOUTING SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE

The Redhawks are currently 3-6 overall with a 2-3 league mark but have dropped their last two contests against Tennessee Tech (42-23) and Charleston Southern (23-17). As a team, Southeast Missouri State averages 24.3 points, 90.7 rushing yards, and 278 passing yards per contest.

Junior quarterback Jax Leatherwood takes snaps from under center for the Redhawks, completing 153-of-238 passes for 1,665 yards and 9 touchdowns. Redshirt freshman Johnny Weber has added 756 yards and six scores.

On the ground, senior Brandon Epton jr. has rushed for a team-high 353 yards yards while finding the endzone five times in 2025. Junior Cole Ruble has 254 yards rushing to go along with three touchdowns.

Junior Cam Pedro leads the Redhawks with 566 yards receiving to go along with four TDs. Sophomore Kelvin Gilbert is second on the team with 546 yards but leads SEMO with five receiving touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, SEMO's opponents average 31.9 points, 175.6 rushing, and 254 passing yards per game. Sophomore safety Landon Sylvie leads the team with 76 total tackles, 45 of the solo variety. Senior outside linebacker Jeremy Walton leads the team with 8.0 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.  

Senior kicker Justin Keller is 10-for-13 on field goal attempts with a long of 48 yards while senior punter Ryan Kingston is averaging 42.20 yards per punt.
