BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb (0-5) University women's lacrosse team fell to visiting Coastal Carolina (2-2) by the final of 16-6 on Friday afternoon inside Spangler Stadium.
Junior midfielder
Emma Duchscherer led the Runnin' Bulldogs with three goals and four draw controls during the contest while graduate attack
Gianna Nardini posted a pair of scores. Gardner-Webb had three players tie for the lead with two groundballs each. Sophomore defender
Abby Consaul anchored the defense with a season-high four caused turnovers.
Coastal Carolina came out of the gate strong, scoring the game's first three goals before Duchscherer put the 'Dawgs on the board following a beautiful assist from freshman midfielder

After the Chanticleers added two more scores to their lead, Duchscherer tacked on her second goal of the game by way of a free position shot with 10 minutes remaining before halftime. However, CCU scored the final five goals of the half, taking a 10-2 lead into the break.
That scoring run ballooned to seven in a row as Coastal scored the first two goals of the second half, but Duchscherer completed her hat trick on another free position with 5:55 on the clock in the third.
Back-to-back goals by Nardini and freshman attack
Ella Grace Bishop narrowed the Runnin' Bulldogs deficit to 13-5 as freshman midfielder Alex Kleinberger notched her first assist, but the Chanticleers finished the game scoring three of the final four goals enroute to the 16-6 win.
