For a program and team to earn recognition, teams were required to achieve a grade point average above 3.0 during the fall 2024 semester. Overall, the Runnin' Bulldogs constitute two of 781 teams from 459 different institutions between the NAIA and NCAA Division I to receive recognition from this past fall. This also includes over 19,000 total student-athletes, 43 of whom don the Red and Black.
In total, 23 members of the Gardner-Webb women's team and 20 members of the Gardner-Webb men's team helped the Runnin' Bulldogs land among the nation's best in the classroom. For the fall, the GWU women finished with a 3.64 team GPA, while the men's team finished with a 3.62 team GPA.
GWU swimming continues an impressive run in the classroom, also receiving the same award from the CSCAA in 2022 and 2023 as well
