FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – The Gardner-Webb men's golf team concluded its part of the 2025 Big South Men's Golf Championship in a tie for fifth place after carding a team combined score of 855 (+3) over 54 holes.
GWU opened play with its best round of the tournament, firing a 2-under 282 before turning in an even-par 284 in round two. The final 18 holes saw the 'Dawgs post a 289 (+5).
Junior Jack Boyer led the way for Gardner-Webb, turning in a 54-hole score of 211 (-3). The native of Greensboro, N.C. opened play with a tournament-low score of 67 (-4) before carding scores of 70 (-1) and 74 (+3) over the final 36 holes while finishing in 8th place on the individual leaderboard. Boyer tallied 12 birdies and two eagles over three rounds.
Junior Bradley Davis, Jr. also notched a top 10 finish after combining for a score of 212 (-1), his best performance of the season. After carding a 1-under, 70 in the opening round, Davis matched the low score of 67 (-4) in round two before concluding his event with a third-round total of 75 (+4). Davis earned 11 birdies and an eagle.
Graduate Mark Chandler concluded his Big South Tournament with a 6-over, 219 over 54 holes. A pair of 72s (+1) in rounds one and three sandwiched a secong 18 score of 75 (+4).
Competing in his first postseason tournament with the Runnin' Bulldogs, freshman Reed Burton finished with a 222 (+9) after rounds of 73 (+2), 79 (+8), and a low round of 70 (-1) over the final 18.
Sophomore Jack Mikesell, playing in the first and third rounds, notched scores of 76 (+5) and 73 (+2) while teammate Martin Frerot scored a 72 (+1) in his lone round of the tournament.
The Runnin' Bulldogs finished with an identical score as Longwood as both came in one stroke behind fourth place Presbyterian. The top four teams advanced to match play with No. 1 Charleston Southern facing off against the Blue Hose while High Point and USC Upstate will face off as the No. 2 and 3 seeds after tying for second place.
