CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Junior Jack Boyer and freshman Reed Burton of the Gardner-Webb University men's golf team earned Big South Conference annual awards as announced by the league office on Thursday, April 23.
Boyer, a native of Greensboro, N.C., collected Second Team Big South All-Conference honors, while Burton, a local of Shelby, N.C., found his name on the Big South Conference All-Freshman Team.
Boyer turned in a solid season for the Runnin' Bulldogs, finishing the year with a team-best 73.41 stroke average, including his best performance, a 4-under, 68 at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate on March 28. In total, Boyer tallied nine rounds at even par or better while shooting sub-70 on five occasions. Boyer was named Big South Golfer of the Week on October 3, 2024, following a top 10 finish at the Ironwood Intercollegiate, where he posted a pair of 69s (-3) on his way to a top 10 finish.
Burton, in his first collegiate season, helped to pace the Runnin' Bulldogs over the course of the 2024-25 year. A two-time Big South Freshman Golfer of the Week recipient, Burton finished the year with a scoring average of 74.89 while firing even or under par four different rounds. His lowest score came at the Ironwood Intercollegiate, a career-best 66 (-6) as well as his lone top 10 finish of the season.
