ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb University track and field team completed a record-setting week at the Big South Outdoor Championships on Wednesday, with the men's team placing fifth, women's team taking third and 16 total podium finishes spread throughout the squad.

Winning his third gold medal of the weekend, junior Quentin Peterson was back on the top step of the podium in the men's discuss. Peterson once again smashed a meet record, this time by recording 58.06 meters, winning the event itself by nearly six full meters. For his efforts, Peterson takes home the men's most valuable athlete award for the conference championship meet, becoming the first athlete in Big South history to win hammer, discuss and shot put all in a single championships.

Also in men's discuss, sophomore Devin Redd set a new personal best with 50.34 meters and took home third place, giving GWU two of the three podium spots.

To open the meet on Wednesday, the Gardner-Webb women's 4x100 team scored a third place finish. Led by the quartet of Jada Pittman, Deborah Marlow, Hope Smith and Teandra Clemons, the ladies combined to medal for GWU with a time of 46.76 seconds.

Continuing in track events, senior Teryn Bour added to an excellent individual meet with a third place finish in the women's 400 meters. Bour crossed the line 55.75 seconds, taking home a conference medal and setting a new personal best in the process.

Gardner-Webb scored another PR and another solid finish with Pittman in the women's 100 meters. With a time of 12.06 seconds, Pittman recorded a fifth place run and set a new personal best in the event, also completing a terrific individual weekend.

The 'Dawgs had one finalist in the women's 800 meters, with junior Jessica Perriello. Perriello placed sixth in the event, crossing the stripe with a time of 2:15.69. In addition, the women's 4x400 team of Marlow, Perriello, Bour and Alena Ivanov scored a fourth place run, crossing the line after 3:52.35 for GWU.

The men's 4x400 race also proved a success for Gardner-Webb, with a sixth place finish and new season best for the group. The team of DJ Black, Nico Wright, Nathan Cremin, and Noah Meadows finished in 3:18.84 to leave the Big South Outdoor Championships with a proud individual and team result.

Also positing strong performances would be Clemons once again, as well as freshman Paige Boyd. The duo went back-to-back, with Boyd in third and Clemons fourth in women's high jump. Boyd posted 1.66 meters in the event, while Clemons scored with 1.61 meters.

GWU was back on the podium again on the women's side, this time in women's discuss. Sophomore Zoie Johnson scored a runner-up finish for the Runnin' Bulldogs by way of 48.48 meters. GWU teammate junior Madison Boyd was sixth in the event at 41.87 meters.

Setting a season best mark, sophomore Jonathan Timpson took part in the men's high jump for GWU. Adding to a record-setting week for the 'Dawgs, Timpson placed third with 1.97 meters

Finally, sophomore Isa van Sintemaartensdijk, fresh off a Big South title on Tuesday in the heptathalon, added to her personal medal count in the women's javelin throw. The Soesterberg, Netherlands native abroad completed her week by recording 41.11 meters to take home third place.
