Runnin' Bulldogs Surge Into National Rankings After 2-0 Start

| By:

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After starting the season with impressive wins over Drexel (4-0) and James Madison (1-0), the Gardner-Webb men's soccer team finds itself in the United Soccer Coaches Division I National Rankings, checking in at No. 20, as announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The Runnin' Bulldogs, who were not ranked during the preseason, garnered 49 total points in this week's poll, just four points behind No. 19 UMKC. This marks the first time in the Division I era that Gardner-Webb has landed in the national poll.

Defending champion Vermont controls the top spot after tallying 200 total points. Marshall and Pittsburgh round out the top three, respectively. West Virginia, GWU's opponent on September 3, checked in at No. 10.

Gardner-Webb will put its first ranking on the line Friday evening, traveling to Davidson to face the Wildcats in a 7 p.m. showcase.
