BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Junior placekicker Charlie Viorel of the Gardner-Webb football team has been selected as the OVC-Big South Special Teams Player of the Week following his 11-point performance in a 23-13 win over The Citadel on Saturday, September 13.
Viorel started the scoring for the Runnin' Bulldogs with a 26-yard field goal before knocking through a pair of extra points following scoring drives by the GWU offense. He wrapped up his night with makes from 33 and 27, respectively.
He also added six kickoffs for 377 yards, averaging 62.8 yards per kick to go along with four touchbacks.
Gardner-Webb will return to the field on Saturday, September 20, traveling to Athens, Ohio for a date with the Bobcats of Ohio. Kick is set for 3:30 p.m. and will be broadcast in ESPN+.
