CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Freshman midfielder Franco Ocana of the Gardner-Webb men's soccer team has been tabbed Big South Conference Freshman of the Week after his performances over the past week.

Ocana scored the game-winner and assisted on a second goal in No. 15 Gardner-Webb's 2-0 win at Presbyterian. The freshman opened the scoring with his second goal of the season in the 15th minute, then set up Samson Kpardeh's goal in the 37th minute to give the Runnin' Bulldogs a two-goal lead before halftime. Ocana had all five of his shots on target against PC and totaled nine shots in 119 minutes over two games.

Gardner-Webb improved to 8-1-1 on the season and will return to the pitch on Friday, October 3, playing host to Longwood at 6 p.m. inside Greene-Harbison Stadium.
