Runnin' Bulldogs Set to Host Radford on Wednesday Evening

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb men's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of Paul Porter Arena while playing host to conference foe Radford on Wednesday, January 14.

Gardner-Webb is searching for its first Big South win of the season after falling on the road at High Point one week ago. The Runnin' Bulldogs held large leads against Charleston Southern (17) and Winthrop (20) before eventually falling.

Freshman Spence Sims leads the Runnin' Bulldogs with 11.1 points per game while shooting better than 46% from distance. Sims has been named Big South Freshman of the Week on five occasions this season. Sophomores Jacob Hogarth and Jacob Hudson chip in 10.6 and 10.1 points per game, respectively, while Hogarth gathers a team-leading 7.2 boards per contest.

As a team, Gardner-Webb shoots 42% from the field and 31%from deep. The Dawgs average 69.3 points per game while allowing 88.6 each contest. GWU trails on the rebounding side of the ball by an average of 39.7-31.7.

Radford comes into the contest with a 9-9 overall record, including 2-1 in conference play. After picking up wins over USC Upstate and Presbyterian in the first two games of Big South play, the Highlanders were upended by UNC Asheville during their last outing.

Dennis Parker Jr. leads Radford with 20.1 points per game and has eclipsed the 20-point plateau in six consecutive games. Del Jones adds 14.9 points per game while Jaylon Johnson chips in 11.1. Tyson Brown owns the glass for Radford, pulling down 7.4 boards per game.

The Highlanders are outscoring their opponents 81.4-77.9 on the season. As a team, Radford shoots 44% from the floor, including 33% from deep. The Highlanders pull down 35.8 rebounds per game while allowing 37.3 boards to their opponents.

Saturday's contest marks the 34th all-time meeting between Gardner-Webb and Radford with the Runnin' Bulldogs owning an 18-15 advantage in the series history. However, the Highlanders have won three straight over Gardner-Webb, including both meetings last season.
