Gardner-Webb Hosts the Eagles of Winthrop on Thursday Evening

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb men's basketball returns to the hardwood on Thursday, February 12 as it hosts league-leading Winthrop inside Paul Porter Arena.

LAST TIME OUT
Gardner-Webb is coming off a tough 68-62 loss at Presbyterian on February 7. Freshman guard Jamias Ferere turned in his second straight solid performance after leading the Dawgs with 13 points. The Runnin' Bulldogs also received 12 points each from Jacob Hogarth and Spence Sims. Hogarth also pulled down a team-high five rebounds.

BY THE NUMBERS
Hogarth leads the Runnin' Bulldogs with 10.7 points per game while shooting better than 56% from the floor. Hogarth also pulls in a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game to go along with five double-doubles on the year. Sims is second on the team in scoring with 10.5 per game while being named Big South Freshman of the Week on five occasions this season.

As a team, Gardner-Webb shoots 42% from the field and 31% from deep. The Dawgs average 67.4 points per game while allowing 86.2 each contest. GWU trails on the rebounding side of the ball by an average of 39.1-31.2.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Winthrop comes into the contest winners of 10 in a row after a 79-74 victory over Longwood while also going 8-0 over the month of January. Logan Duncomb leads the Eagles with 18.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, one of two players in the conference to rank Top 5 in both scoring and rebounding. Kareem Rozier chips in 13.0 points per game while Jody Clouet and Daylen Berry top double-digit scoring with 12.7 and 10.5 each game, respectively.

The Eagles are second in the conference with 84.3 points per game while allowing 74.2 each time out. Winthrop shoots at a .445 clip from the field but holds its opponents to a league second-best .425 percentage. Rebounding is not an issue for the Eagles as they pull down 40.5 per game while allowing 34.8

SERIES HISTORY
The Runnin' Bulldogs and Eagles meet for the second time this season and 42nd time overall. In the first meeting, Gardner-Webb held as many as a 20-point lead before falling by the final of 88-77. Winthrop leads the series with a record of 32-15, but each team has won four times in the last eight meetings. In 41 meetings all-time there have been, 22 matchups decided by five or fewer points and 12 decided by three or less.
