Runnin' Bulldogs Welcome Devin Gaulden to Defensive Team

| By:

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – With the changing of the guard at the head of the Gardner-Webb football program, over the next few weeks we will take a look at the new faces that will pace the sidelines for head coach Kris McCullough and the Runnin' Bulldogs. Our first spotlight will be Devin Gaulden.

Gaulden joins the Garnder-Webb football staff as the Defensive Pass Game Coordinator and Corners/Nickels Coach. Gaulden brings a wealth of knowledge to Boiling Springs with his coaching career spanning multiple collegiate programs, where he has made an impact on player performance and defensive strategy.

Gaulden began his coaching career after a standout playing career as a defensive back at the University of Wisconsin, where he competed from 2011–2014 and earned valuable experience on a defense that helped secure back-to-back Big Ten championships. He finished his collegiate playing career with a season at Wake Forest University in 2015.

Transitioning into coaching, Gaulden worked as a quality control and defensive backs assistant at Florida Atlantic University, where he broke down opponent passing game tendencies and helped prepare practice drills for defensive units. He then moved to Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida, coaching several players who went on to Division I careers.

In 2018 he joined East Central University's football staff, progressing from graduate assistant to full assistant coach for defensive backs, contributing to player development and defensive schemes.

Gaulden has also held significant collegiate roles as Co-Defensive Coordinator and Secondary Coach at the University of Texas Permian Basin, where he guided the defensive staff and coordinated the secondary.
