Runnin' Bulldogs Set to Host FDU and Dartmouth at John Henry Moss Stadium

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb baseball returns to the diamond on February 20-22 as it plays host to FDU and Dartmouth in round robin action at Bill Masters Field. The Runnin' Bulldogs are off to a 3-2 start this season after taking 3-of-4 from Valparaiso one week ago before dropping a midweek clash at SEC South Carolina.

Redshirt sophomore designated hitter Alejandro Sanchez is off to a blistering start to this Gardner-Webb career, leading the team with a .667 batting average that includes three doubles, a pair of triples and six RBIs. Senior catcher Zack Thompson as also fared well at the dish, currently sitting in second on the team with a .647 average. Thompson leads the team in hits (11) and total bases (15).

Senior left fielder Kelvin Agosto has driven in a team-high 10 runs, including a two-RBI walkoff over Valpo in the season opener. Senior Merik Carter and redshirt junior Matt Ilgenfritz own the two homeruns on the team for the Runnin' Bulldogs.

Redshirt senior Reid Bertram dazzled on the mound in the final game of the Valpo series after tossing a 7-inning complete game while allowing one run and six hits. He also recorded five strikeouts.

Dartmouth and FDU are starting its seasons with the trip to Boiling Springs this weekend.

Dartmouth finished the 2025 campaign with an 11-25 overall record, including an 8-13 mark in the Ivy League. The Big Green were selected to finish 7th out of 8 teams in league play this year.

FDU comes into the opening games of 2026 after a 16-37 mark last year which included a 16-14 mark in NEC play. The Knights were picked to finish 5th in the Northeast Conference while garnering a first-place vote.
