BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Following a brief break due to inclement weather, the Gardner-Webb men's basketball team will return to action on Wednesday, February 4 while playing host to the Lancers of Longwood University.

Gardner-Webb is coming off a tough 69-50 loss at UNC Asheville on January 29. The Runnin' Bulldogs placed one player in double digits as freshman Spence Sims poured in a team-high 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Sims also added a career-high eight rebounds in the loss.
Sophomore forward Jacob Hogarth leads the Runnin' Bulldogs with 10.7 points per game while shooting better than 56% from the floor. Hogarth also pulls in a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game to go along with five double-doubles on the year. Sims is second on the team in scoring with 10.5 per game while being named Big South Freshman of the Week on five occasions this season.
As a team, Gardner-Webb shoots 42% from the field and 30% from deep. The Dawgs average 67.7 points per game while allowing 87.0 each contest. GWU trails on the rebounding side of the ball by an average of 39.4-31.5.
Longwood comes into the contest with a 12-12 overall record while sitting at 4-5 in league play. The Lancers have lost two in a row against USC Upstate and High Point. Longwood had a season-high three-game win streak from December 20-December 31.
Elijah Tucker leads the Lancers in scoring with 12.3 per game and rebounding at 6.5 each time out while Jacoi Hutchinson averages 11.7 per contest. Redd Thompson Jr. and Johan Nziemi chip in 10.7 and 10.6 points per game, respectively. Nziemi is second on the team with an average of 6.3 boards per game.
Longwood averages 76.1 points per game while giving up 72.7 on the defensive side of the ball. The Lancers shoot at a .464 clip from the floor, including .303 from behind the arc. Longwood outrebounds its opponents 37.0-31.7.
Wednesday's contest marks the 26th all-time meeting between Gardner-Webb and Longwood with the Runnin' Bulldogs owning a 15-10 advantage in the series history. However, Longwood has taken the previous two matchups, including a 91-56 win in Farmville on January 21. Gardner-Webb's last win in the series came on January 29, 2025, a 92-87 win at Paul Porter Arena.
