DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb track and field team posted one of its best team weekends of the season, with several top finishes and marks at the Davidson Relays
The women's 4x100 team was the biggest performer of the weekend for Gardner-Webb. The group of
Hope Smith,
Teandra Clemons,
Traci Cross and Laura Covarruibias took first place in the event with a time of 48.18 seconds
Clemons was also in action for GWU in women's long jump, as well as the women's 100 meters with Smith and Cross. Clemons posted a mark of 5.65 meters in the long jump, good for third place in the event. In the 100 meters meanwhile, Smith was seventh in 12.29 seconds, Cross ninth in 12.32 seconds, and Clemons 18th in 12.60 seconds
Skye Jackson was another GWU athlete with an excellent individual weekend. Jackson was fifth in the previously mentioned women's 100 meters, leading Gardner-Webb in 12.17 seconds. She was also fourth in the women's 200 meters in 24.92 seconds
The Runnin' Bulldogs distance team also had a strong weekend.
Jessica Perriello took fifth place in the women's 1-mile, doing so in 5:08.89. Teammate
Maggie Dirks was seventh in the same event in 5:14.10
Gardner-Webb scored a 1-2 finish in the men's discus throw, then landed on the podium in the women's event. In the men's,
Jacoby Johnson took first place with a mark of 47.53 meters, with
Devin Redd second at 46.87 meters.
Hannah Hoffman was third in the women's event, with a mark of 44.31 meters. She was also fourth in women's hammer throw later in the weekend with a mark of 50.99 meters
Jon Garrett continued the big Runnin' Bulldogs weekend with a win in men's hammer throw. Garrett took the top spot with a mark of 55.51 meters
Paige Boyd added yet another win to the Gardner-Webb weekend results, doing so in the women's high jump. Boyd took the top step of the podium with a mark of 1.63 meters
One of the other Runnin' Bulldogs to post impressive weekend results well was
Adrionna Coleman. Coleman was sixth in women's discus with 42.71 meters and fourth in women's shot put with a mark of 13.59 meters
