Baseball Gears Up For Three-Game Set at Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. – Gardner-Webb baseball returns to the diamond on March 6-8 as it travels to take on OK State in a three-game set at O'Brate Stadium. The Runnin' Bulldogs are off to a 9-4 start this season after sweeping App State last weekend.

Senior left fielder Kelvin Agosto leads the Dawgs at the dish, raking at a .396 average, including a team-best 12 hits. Agosto has driven in a team second-best 13 runs. Senior catcher Zack Thompson continues his great start, currently sitting second on the team with a .346 average. Thompson has compiled 18 hits, including four doubles and a triple.

Redshirt junior Matt Ilgenfritz supplies the power for the Runnin' Bulldogs with four long balls and a team-leading 15 RBIs on the season while senior center fielder Merik Carter has added a solo shot into the mix.

Redshirt senior Reid Bertram sits at 2-0 on the season after earning a no decision against App State. Bertram owns a team-best 1.80 earned run average. Junior Oliver Ellison is also 2-0 for the year, hurling 17.0 innings total.

Oklahoma State is currently riding an 8-game win streak while averaging 10 runs per contest. The Cowboys have scored 10 or more runs in five of its first 12 games, including a 20-0 win over Sam Houston.

The Cowboys are led offensively by Campbell Smithwick who controls a team-best .391 average to go along with nine hits. Kollin Ritchie leads the team in hits with 16 while also sitting tops on the club with 26 RBIs and nine homeruns. Oklahoma State has five players with a batting average of .300 or better.

On the mound, Ethan Lund is 2-0 with a 1.23 earned run average. Lund has given up five hits in 14.2 innings while striking out a team-best 28 batters. Opponents are hitting .102 against Lund. Hudson Barrett is 2-1 with a 1.53 ERA, tossing a team-high 17.2 innings and striking out 25. Noah Wech anchors the bullpen with three saves.
