Runnin' Bulldogs Conclude Competitive Tar Heel Intercollegiate

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Competing against a strong field at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate, the Gardner-Webb men's golf team closed out play Sunday at Finley Golf Club in Chapel Hill with a three-round total of 874 (+34) to finish 16th in the team standings. The Runnin' Bulldogs posted rounds of 291, 288 and 295 during the 54-hole event hosted by North Carolina.

Gardner-Webb was led by Bradley Davis, Jr., who delivered the team's top individual performance of the tournament. Davis finished tied for 30th at 2-over-par (212), highlighted by a strong weekend charge. After opening with a 75, he rebounded with a 69 in the second round and closed with a 68 on Sunday, the Runnin' Bulldogs' lowest round of the event.

Jude Carper also finished inside the top 60, tying for 53rd overall with a three-round score of 217 (+7). Carper posted rounds of 73 and 70 during the first two rounds before carding a 74 in the final round.

Jack Boyer finished tied for 69th with a total of 223 (+13), opening the tournament with a 71 before finishing with rounds of 77 and 75. Brandon Heffner placed tied for 80th at 228 (+18), highlighted by a second-round 72, while Reed Burton rounded out the lineup with a 232 (+22).

As a team, Gardner-Webb showed its best form during Saturday's second round with a 288, gaining ground in a competitive field that included several nationally recognized programs. The tournament was won by North Carolina at 32-under-par, with Duke finishing second and North Carolina's "B" team placing third.

Gardner-Webb will return to the links on April 26-29 as it takes part in the 2026 Big South Men's Golf Championship in Fripp Island, S.C.
