Runnin' Bulldogs Step Out of Conference For Matchup With Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Gardner-Webb baseball team steps out of conference on Tuesday, April 28, traveling to nearby Spartanburg to take on Wofford of the SoCon. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.

The Runnin' Bulldogs are coming off a series win over league-leading Winthrop, taking two of three from the Eagles at John Henry Moss Stadium. After starting pitcher Oliver Ellison tossed a masterful complete-game shutout in game one, the Dawgs took the series in the rubber match with a walkoff hit from Merik Carter.

Kelvin Agosto continues to lead the club with a .390 average while tallying a team-best 64 hits, including 11 doubles and eight homeruns. Drew Ripepi and Ryan Kennell are batting .321 and .305, respectively. Carter and Matt Ilgenfritz are tied for the team lead in long balls with nine each.

Wofford comes into the contest with a 30-14 overall record, including a 5-2 mark against Big South teams. The Terriers are led at the dish by Logan Tribble's .408 average while Ben Timblin has mashed a team-high 11 homers. Wofford has four batters hitting at .300 or better.

The Terriers pitching staff has a combined earned run average of 4.29, tossing 365.0 innings. Alec Bouchard is 7-2 on the year while Branton Little has earned three saves.
