
Tredway Named Big South Freshman of the Year While Emma Anderson and Emma Meyer Earn All-Conference Recognition

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Midfielder Maddie Tredway of the Gardner-Webb women's lacrosse team has been named Big South Freshman of the Year while teammate Emma Anderson was named to the Big South First Team All-Conference as announced by the league on Thursday, April 30. Tredway also garnered First Team All-Conference At-Large as well as Big South All-Freshman Team. In addition, Emma Meyer was named to the Big South Academic All-Conference Team.
In her first collegiate season, Tredway became a staple for the Runnin' Bulldogs not only at the draw control position, but offensively as well. Tredway led Gardner-Webb with 29 goals to go along with 10 assists. Her best performance of the year came against Quinnipiac where she produced a hat trick and what was a single-game Big South record of 18 draw controls. She finished third in the conference with 6.63 draw controls per game. The rookie from Alpharetta, Ga. was named Big South Freshman of the Week on four occasions.
Anderson turned in one of the most prolific seasons in goal for Gardner-Webb, gaining national recognition for her efforts. Also from Alpharetta, Ga., Anderson finished first in the country with 198 total saves and second in saves per game (11.65) and ground balls per game (4.76). Anderson tallied double-digit saves in 10 games this season, including a career-high 22 against High Point. She now sits alone at the top of the leaderboard for the Runnin' Bulldogs in career saves.
Meyer was named to the All-Academic Team for the Big South. On the defensive side of the ball, Meyer collected 16 ground balls to go along with five caused turnovers and nine draw controls.
