
Collier, Colley and Spainhower Named to 2026 CSC Academic All-District Team

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Following the conclusion of the 2026 season, three members of the Gardner-Webb softball team have been selected as College Sports Communicators Academic All-Distrct, recognizing both on the field and in the classroom achievements
Sophomore Reese Collier held down a 3.53 GPA this academic year while working towards her degree in Pre-Law. Collier immediately established herself as one of the best hitters in the Big South Conference in her first season in red and black, hitting .375 with a league-leading 11 home runs and 57 RBIs, and a .635 slugging. Collier continued to swing a strong bat deep into conference play, where she put up a 1.039 OPS and was second in the Big South with 39 total bases, all while starting all 18 league games.
Sophomore Lauren Spainhower finished with a 3.95 GPA while working towards her degree in Exercise Science. A consistent performer for Gardner-Webb all season, Spainhower saw action in 54 games and made 52 starts primarily in center and left field, hitting .331 along the way. Spainhower was particularly notable for her defense, where she made just three errors all season, finishing with a .977 fielding percentage and with 84 putouts. She also finished among the Big South leaders in walks, finishing with 27 for the campaign, the fourth most in the conference
Sophomore Caitlin Colley adds to her Big South All-Academic Team selection after finishing with a 3.97 GPA and working towards her degree in Exercise Science. Colley was terrific both on the field and in the classroom during her debut season with the Dawgs, hitting .345 across 52 starts as the primary third baseman. Colley saw big increases across the board from her freshman season at Cedarville, finishing with nine home runs, tied for the third most in the conference. She also delivered a pair of walk-off hits, including a walk-off home run against DePaul, and a season-saving walk-off single versus Longwood
