Runnin' Bulldogs Take First Conference Win of the Season

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team earned its first conference win of the season in dominant fashion Saturday evening, cruising to a 5-1 victory over Radford at Greene-Harbison Field.
The Runnin' Bulldogs improve to 5-4-1 overall and 1-1-0 in Big South conference play, while Radford falls to 2-6-1 overall and 0-2-0 in the league.
Gardner-Webb struck first in the sixth minute when Michael Mor found the back of the net for his first goal of the season to give the Runnin' Bulldogs an early lead.
Radford answered in the 19th minute to even the match, but Gardner-Webb quickly regained the lead. Tim Kreuzpeintner found the net in the 21st minute off an assist from Antony Alexis, before Christian Samaripa added an unassisted goal in the 26th minute to give the Runnin' Bulldogs a 3-1 advantage.
Gardner-Webb continued to control the match after halftime, adding two more goals to pull away. Nicolas Triguero extended the lead to 4-1 in the 64th minute, with Samaripa earning the assist. Titus Knoche then capped the scoring in the 76th minute with his first goal of the season, assisted by Tom Chartier.
The Runnin' Bulldogs finished the night with a 13-8 advantage in shots and put 12 shots on target compared to five for the Highlanders. Gardner-Webb also held a 7-4 edge in corner kicks, while Oliver Weng made four saves in goal to help secure the victory.
The victory marks the Runnin' Bulldogs' second consecutive win after Wednesday's 3-2 victory at UAB.
