Samaripa Earns Big South Freshman of the Week Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Christian Samaripa has been named the Big South Men's Soccer Freshman of the Week as announced by the league on Monday.
Samaripa recorded a goal and an assist in Gardner-Webb's 5-1 victory over Radford, helping the Runnin' Bulldogs secure their first conference win of the season. The freshman played a pivotal role throughout the match, creating scoring opportunities and keeping pressure on the Highlanders' defense as Gardner-Webb delivered a strong performance.
Samaripa also contributed to Gardner-Webb's 3-2 road victory at UAB on Sept. 23 as the Runnin' Bulldogs scored three goals in the second half to earn the win. The victory marked Gardner-Webb's second consecutive win and helped the Runnin' Bulldogs build momentum heading into their Big South home opener.
Gardner-Webb will look to build on its momentum when it hosts UNC Asheville in another Big South matchup on Friday, Oct. 2. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Greene-Harbison Stadium.
