Runnin' Bulldogs Pick Up First Win At Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, S.C.- The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team picked up their first win of the season against Coastal Carolina on Saturday night on the road 2-1. With the win the Runnin' Bulldogs improve to 1-1-1, while Coastal Carolina falls to 1-2-1.
Gardner-Webb came out attacking early, earning three corner kicks during a strong stretch in the middle of the first half. Gardner-Webb broke through in the 30th minute when Tim Kreuzpeinter found the back of the net on an assist from Adrian Biaggi. Right before half the Runnin' Bulldogs would score again as Bashir Mansur scored his first goal off an assist from Antony Alexis sending Gardner-Webb into the break with a 2-0 lead.
Coastal Carolina looked to respond coming out of the half with increased pressure, but goalkeeper Oliver Weng kept the Chanticleers off of the scoreboard through the first 20-plus minutes. In the 68th minute Coastal Carolina would cut into the lead on a goal from Pearse O'Brien which was assisted by Daniel Idiakhoa making it a 2-1 contest.
The Runnin' Bulldogs defense held strong throughout the rest of the game limiting Coastal Carolina to just two shots after the goal. Weng finished the night with two saves.
Gardner-Webb finished the match with 13 shots including four on goal, while the Chanticleers registered 17 shots and five on target. The Runnin' Bulldogs also held an 8-4 advantage on corner kicks.
With the victory Gardner-Webb earns its first road victory of the 2026 campaign and will look to carry their momentum into the next match.
