Former Gardner-Webb softball standout Jessi Williams begins herfirst season as a volunteer assistant coach on the Bulldogs’staff. She will work primarily with the outfielders.
Williams, who graduated in May of2008 with a degree in biology and a minor in chemistry, ended herstellar career as one of the most productive student-athletes inGardner-Webb history.
She finished her career with aschool-record 22 homeruns. Williams ranks second for a career with52 extra base hits. She is also second for most RBI in a career,having driven in 100 over her four years.
Williams ranks in the top fivefor a career in batting average, runs, doubles, triples, totalbases and walks. She is also in the top five of virtually everysingle-season offensive category.
During her four years under CoachTom Cole, Williams was a key cog in the line-up that won theschool’s first-ever postseason game. Her junior season,Williams led the squad to the Atlantic Sun Conference championshipgame, where she launched a solo homerun.
Her senior season, Williamshelped the Bulldogs knock off top-seeded Lipscomb in the conferencetournament.
