Dominique Hudson, who helped lead Gardner-Webb to its first-everWomen’s Basketball NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010-11 andits first-ever WNIT appearance in 2009-10, returns to thewomen’s basketball program having played for Coach Reeves andthe Runnin’ Bulldogs from 2007-11.
Hudson begins her third year on the sidelines at her alma materin 2014-15 having joined Coach Reeves’ staff in June 2012.Hudson works primarily with the perimeter players and helps withthe complex Gardner-Webb offense.
In August of 2013, Hudson and her twin sister Monique, were bothnamed to the list of “100 To Remember: Female Athletes”list as part of the celebration of the centennial of the NorthCarolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA). The list of“100 To Remember: Female Athletes” highlights onehundred of the top female athletes in NCHSAA history.
The Hudson twins had a sensational four-year playing career atSouthWest Edgecome, where Monique talled 1,760 career points, whileDominique talled 1,178 points. During her high school career,Hudson compiled a 94-18 record and helped guide the Cougars to the2005 2-A state championship.
Dominique’s No. 12 jersey and Monique’s No. 15jersey have both been retired at SWE.
During her playing career at Gardner-Webb, Hudson was a two-timeBig South All-Conference First-Team selection, a three-time BigSouth All-Tournament honoree and was tabbed the 2011 Big SouthWomen’s Basketball Championship Tournament Most ValuablePlayer as she led the Runnin’ Bulldogs to their first-everpostseason conference championship.
Hudson, who was also a two-time North Carolina Collegiate SportsInformation Association First-Team University Division All-StateTeam recipient and a 2007-08 Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Teamhonoree, graduated with a degree in Sport Management in August2011.
Hudson finished her career as GWU’s Division I all-timeleading scorer with 1,407 career points, which also ranks fifthoverall all-time in GWU history. Hudson also finished her career asGWU’s DI career assists leader with 579 career assists andsteals leader with 244 career thefts. She ranks first inGWU’s DI career record book in games played (129), minutesplayed (3,545) and free throws made (419) and second in GWU DIhistory in most games started (102), third in field goals made(443) and fifth in three-pointers made (102).
