Jimmy Laughlin

Jimmy Laughlin is in his second season as a graduate assistant coach with the Gardner-Webb program and will work with the defense again in 2017.

The former Tennessee Tech safety and linebacker played four seasons with the Golden Eagles, wrapping up his career following the 2015 season. As a senior, Laughlin played in 11 games and finished with 40 total tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and a pass break up.

His best overall season came as a junior when he posted 41 total tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, six pass break ups, one interception and a 23-yard fumble return.

In four seasons total, Laughlin played in 43 games and finished with 169 total tackles (86 solo), 17.5 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and 10 pass break ups.

Laughlin played at Vestavia Hills (Ala.) High, where he led the Rebels with 101 total tackles and had three interceptions as a senior.

He graduated from Tennessee Tech with a degree in marketing in 2016.
