Last fall, the Greyhounds led the conference with six All-GLVC First Team honorees on the defensive side.
Cooper's first season with UIndy was successful by most any measure, with the 2019 Greyhounds finishing 9-2 and earning an NCAA DII Playoff berth. His defensive unit finished second in all of Division II in rushing defense, setting school and GLVC records at just 61.5 rushing yards allowed per game. The Hounds also ranked in the top 25 in the nation in defensive touchdowns (13th, 4 TDs), team tackles for a loss (20th, 8.3 per) and scoring defense (21st, 17.7 ppg).
Cooper returned to the Hoosier State after spending two seasons at the University of Pittsburgh as the Defensive Quality Control Coach. There he worked with the DBs and linebackers while helping the Panthers to the 2018 ACC championship and an appearance in 2018 Sun Bowl.
Prior to that, Cooper spent eight years as the DC at crosstown Butler University. He helped the Bulldogs to a pair of Pioneer Football League titles, with his defense consistently ranking in the top 20 in FCS.
Cooper also spent time as a Quality Control Coach at Indiana University (2009) after working six seasons on the staff at Miami University (2003-08).
As a student-athlete, Cooper was a four-year letter winner and three-year starter at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. He received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from DePauw in 1997 before earning a Masters of Education from Indiana State two years later.
