Mauro was named the Director of Player Development at Gardner-Webb in Fall 2025. Prior to his arrival in the Springs, Mauro was a part-time coach with the Thunderwolves Baseball Club in Kenmore, N.Y.
During his time with the Thunderwolves, Mauro created and implemented new drills to increase team performance as well as observed players during practice to determine need for individual or team improvement.Â
Mauro played collegiately at Niagara University where he was a three-year starter at third base for the Purple Eagles. Over those three years, Mauro hit .278 with 36 doubles, 17 homeruns, and 110 RBIs. Mauro hit for the cycle during a game in 2023, only the third time anyone had accomplished that feat for Niagara. Mauro was a member of the NU team that played in the Stillwater Regional in 2024, the first conference title and regional appearance for the Purple Eagles.Â
Mauro earned his Bachelor of Science from Niagara University in New York. His father, Jim Mauro, was the head coach for Niagara from 1989-2001.
