
GWU Women's Basketball Heads to Durham, N.C. to Take on NCCU on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's basketball team will hit the road for the first time in 2009-10, as the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Durham, N.C. to take on the North Carolina Central Lady Eagles on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.
Gardner-Webb is 2-1 thus far this season with all three games coming at home, while North Carolina Central is 0-3 on the year and 0-1 at home.
Gardner-Webb will be looking for its first road win of the season, while NCCU will be looking for its first win and home win on the year.
The Lady Eagles enter the game on Sunday afternoon winless, yet
have played very tough competition thus far in 2009-10. North
Carolina Central has suffered losses to No. 21 Maryland, Morgan
State and Campbell, with the loss to Campbell coming at home last
week. Joanna Miller leads the Lady Eagles with 13.3 points per
game, while Latoya Bennett has played well down low for NCCU
averaging 9.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. The Lady Eagles
have struggled from the floor offensively thus far this season,
shooting only 33.8 percent overall and 25.0 percent from
three-point range.
Gardner-Webb has shown a total team effort thus far this season, as
four different players have scored in double-figures in two of the
Lady Bulldogs three games, while in the win over Winston-Salem
State on November 16th, GWU had 10 different players score in the
contest.
Senior Margaret Roundtree, a Durham native, will look to continue
her solid play this season in her hometown on Sunday afternoon, as
the forward has scored in double figures in all three of the Lady
Bulldogs games thus far this season and averaging 11.7 points and
7.0 rebounds per game.
The Hudson twins have jump started its 2009-10 season on the right
track, as Dominique leads the team with 12.3 points per game, while
Monique is averaging 10.7 points per game off the bench for Coach
Reeves' squad.
In its last contest, redshirt-junior Sandra Vaitkute poured in a
career-high 19 points and hauled in a game-high nine rebounds to
power the Lady Bulldogs past Limestone College, 71-50. Three other
Lady Bulldogs scored in double figures, as GWU overcame 27
turnovers by shooting 47.5 percent from the field. Gardner-Webb
held Limestone to 25.0 percent shooting in the first half, allowing
the Lady Bulldogs to pull away early and play with a large lead for
most of the game.
Tip-off for Sunday afternoon's non-conference contest in Durham,
N.C. is slated for 3 p.m.
