Gardner-Webb Swimming Participates in Western Carolina Open Water Challenge This Past Saturday

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. - Members of both Gardner-Webb men's and women's swimming teams participated in the 2010 Western Carolina Open Water Challenge at Moss Lake in Kings Mountain, N.C. this past Saturday morning, taking home titles in several events.
In the women's 5K event, Gardner-Webb swimmers claimed all of the top-10 positions, led by senior Elizabeth Ketterer. In the men's 5K event, GWU swimmers took eight spots in the top-10, with sophomore Tyler Nuss claiming second to lead the team.
In the women's 3K event, sophomore Kristen Michal led the Runnin' Bulldogs, finishing second in the event. Senior Adam Suggs won the men's 3K event.
In the women's 2K event, six GWU swimmers filled out the top-10, with sophomore Kim Zachensky leading the way, finishing in second place. Nuss led the way in the men's 2K, winning the event with seven members of the GWU team taking places in the top-10.
Michal and sophomore Elizabeth Charter tied for first in the women's 500-yard sprint, part of the four GWU swimmers earning spots in the top-10 for the event. In the men's 500-yard sprint, Suggs claimed the victory.
Gardner-Webb will next be in action on Saturday, October 16th as the Runnin' Bulldogs take on Asbury in an exhibition event in Wilmore, Ky.
