
Women's Swimming In Third after First Day of Fall Frenzy Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Gardner-Webb women's swim team are currently in third-place compiling 452 points sitting behind Queens University of Charlotte (632) and Wingate University (554) after day one of the Fall Frenzy Invitational hosted at the Rock Hill Aquatics Center.
The Runnin' Bulldogs started Friday evening off strong as Kelsey Williams, Lili Toth, Mackenzie Ropka, and Christina Clayton combined efforts to finish third in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:35.53. GWU also finished sixth in the event from the strong effort of Carol Zangla, Adel Kiss, Emily Nordberg, and Whitney Peters anchored touching in at a time of 1:39.00 even.
The next event for the women was the 500 free and Lauren Oglesby who has proved to be a stalwart in that event had another strong finish placing third with a time of 5:00.07, while freshman Miranda Johns was the first to touch in the 500 free "B" finals from a time of 5:04.38.
The Runnin' Bulldogs continued to preform well as the night progressed with sophomores London Schumacher (2:03.76) and Toth (2:04.32) finishing third and fourth respectively in the 200 IM. Kiss who is also a sophomore won the 200 IM "B" final with a time of 2:06.46.
Peters after her strong finish as an anchor earlier in the night swam well for Gardner-Webb placing as the top Runnin' Bulldog in the 50 free finishing fifth from a time of 24.10.
GWU Women's swimming closed out day one with a fifth-place finish in the 400 medley relay as Toth, Peters, freshman Tessa Walsh, and Williams swam to the time of 3:53.97.
The Fall Frenzy Invitational resumes Saturday morning with preliminaries at 10:30 a.m. Finals on Saturday will start at 6 p.m. The three-day event concludes Sunday with preliminaries at 10:30 a.m. and finals at 5 p.m.
