April 19, 2015 | Men's Golf
NINETY SIX, S.C. – The first round of the 2015 Big South Men's Golf Championship has been suspended due to inclement weather. The start of the round was delayed 3 hours and 30 minutes due to early morning rain and was switched to a 1:00pm shotgun start. All 10 teams were able to complete nine holes, with most groups finishing 11 or 12 holes of competition.
A lightning strike at 3:32pm first halted play, and heavy thunderstorms soon followed that led to the suspension of competition.
Gardner-Webb as a team unofficially sits tied for third-place overall compiling a round of -3 under par at the time of suspension. Senior Matt Yelverton through 11 holes sits a -2 under with teammate Vincent Blanchette shooting -1 under par through 10 holes.
Freshman Jake Kennedy is also shooting -1 under through the 10th hole, while redshirt sophomore Chris Jones is shooting one-over par and freshman Aaron Thomas is shooting two-over par, both through 11 holes.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will get action underway tomorrow at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor in Ninety Six, S.C. as the first round will restart at 10:00am Monday morning, followed by the second round.
