BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – In a match that appeared destined for overtime, the Gardner-Webb men's soccer team topped Longwood University 2-1 this afternoon in the final seconds of the match as Mads Rismeon netted the game winner.
At the 31:07 mark in the first half, Sherif Maalouf found the back of the net as he received the cross from Dan Campos on the left side of the pitch. His shot from eight yards out would be good for the only goal of the half.
Late in the second half, at the 75:30 mark,
Jack Hoey tied the game at 1-1 as Mads Rismeon laid the ball off to Hoey as he took a shot left footed and found the bottom corner of the net.
In the waning seconds of the match, Mads Rismeon put the 'Dawgs up 2-1 at the 89:34 mark.
Magnus Moldjord sent the cross to Rismeon as he was able to slot it passed the Lancers goalkeeper.
Gardner-Webb tallied 18 shots in the match, as six were on goal.
Jack Hoey led the way for the Runnin' Bulldogs with two shots on goal.

Severin Soerlie and Mads Rismeon also added a shot on goal for Gardner-Webb.
Longwood saw 12 shots in the match, with nine on goal. Connor Rae led the Lancers offense with three shots on goal in the match.
Gardner-Webb goalkeeper Jacob Beyer was a key component for the Runnin' Bulldogs today as he made eight saves between the posts.
Lance Da Silva recorded four saves while allowing two goals for Longwood.
The Runnin' Bulldogs outpaced Longwood in corner kicks 6 to 1.
After today's match, Gardner-Webb climbs to (7-6-2, 3-2-1 BSC) while Longwood falls to (1-14-2, 1-5-1 BSC). The Runnin' Bulldogs return to Greene-Harbison Stadium for their final regular season home match of the year as they are set to host Winthrop Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 6:00 PM.
