Marc-Kevin Schwenk Tabbed with Weekly Honors by Big South

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb men's soccer player, Marc-Kevin Schwenk has been selected as the Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Schwenk was awarded honors following his performance in the Runnin' Bulldogs lone match of the week as Gardner-Webb collected a 3-0 win over UNC Asheville.
In the match, Schwenk played an essential role on defense helping lead the Runnin' Bulldogs to their second shutout of the season, while making significant contributions offensively. Schwenk recorded two assists in the match.
Nine minutes into play against UNC Asheville, Schwenk found Severin Soerlie on a cross from the left side to give GWU an early 1-0 lead.
Leading 2-0 in the 82nd minute, Schwenk again found a fellow Runnin' Bulldog this time in Ishmael Guerrero who capped Gardner-Webb's scoring efforts for the match.
Schwenk is the third Runnin' Bulldog to receive weekly honors from the Big South this season following teammates Severin Soerlie and Oskar Wang for their performances against Furman on Saturday, Sept. 23.
Gardner-Webb is back in action tomorrow as they travel to play the Clemson Tigers in an away match at Historic Riggs Field. The game is set to begin at 7:00 pm.
