November 16, 2017 | Women's Lacrosse
BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb announced its 2018 women's lacrosse schedule Thursday afternoon, with the Runnin' Bulldogs set to host eight home games.
The season begins on the road at Wofford, with the Terriers in their inaugural season of women's lacrosse. First draw is set for 11:00 am in Spartanburg, S.C.
Head coach Jillian Krick and her squad will head back to Spangler Stadium for a four-game homestand in late February and early March, hosting Cincinnati (February 16), East Carolina (February 18), Mercer (March 2) and Saint Francis (March 6) before hitting the road again.
Gardner-Webb will also host home games against Quinnipiac (March 17), Campbell (March 31), Radford (April 11) and Winthrop (April 21). Big South Conference play begins with that March 31 date against Campbell.
"I am extremely excited for the 2018 season," said Krick. "Adding new teams to the schedule that we've never faced is exciting for our program and fans. Those early season games will be great preparation heading into Big South Conference play."
Gardner-Webb will play its fourth season of women's lacrosse in 2018, with all home games played on the turf in Ernest W. Spangler Stadium. Krick is in her third season as head coach.
Wofford, East Carolina, American, Delaware State and Quinnipiac are new to the GWU schedule in 2018.
In addition to its regular season slate, Gardner-Webb will look to make a run at the postseason in 2018. The annual Big South Championship begins on April 28 and concludes with semifinals on May 4 and finals on May 6.
