Seven Runnin' Bulldogs Collect Big South All-Conference Honors

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Big South Conference release their All-Conference honors this morning as seven different Runnin' Bulldogs were selected for eight awards.

Severin Soerlie, a sophomore was one of three Runnin' Bulldogs tabbed with Second-Team honors. Soerlie has been a dominant force on offense this season scoring 11 goals, with seven assists, accounting for 29 points. In Gardner-Webb's 5-4 double overtime win at No. 8 Furman, Soerlie helped lead the team to victory as he added two goals in the match. Soerlie was selected as the Big South Attacking Player of the Week on Sept. 25 for his performance against Furman, while also being selected to the National Team of the Week.

Magnus Moldjord, was also a Second-Team selection while being complimented for his performance in the classroom as a member of the All-Academic Team. The sophomore midfielder is tied for a team high 11 goals, and has added four assists accounting for 26 points. In the classroom, Moldjord has boasted a 3.72 GPA.

Simen Sundborg Olsen rounded out the Second-Team selections for Gardner-Webb, as the defender has played a vital role helping the Runnin' Bulldogs collect three shutouts. Olsen has started in all 16 matches, playing a team high 1481 minutes and added one goal, a game winner against USC Upstate.

Junior transfer from Burlington Community College, Jack Hoey was tabbed an Honorable Mention selection for his performances in 15 games. The midfielder has scored four goals, with three coming in the Runnin' Bulldogs last three matches against Campbell, Longwood and Winthrop.

Oskar Wang, Petter Johansen, and Jonas Olsaker were each named to the All-Freshman team as well in their first season donning the Runnin' Bulldogs uniform. Wang has accounted for 833 minutes, in eight starts and 15 appearances. Wang also added one goal against Furman in the 'Dawgs upset of the ranked Paladins.

Johansen has played in 15 matches, Â and started in 11, collecting 971 minutes of play. The Norway native has collected two assists on the season coming against VMI in a dominant 5-0 win, and Presbyterian College as GWU went on to win 2-1.

Jonas Olsaker, also a Norway native has appeared in 13 matches, while making 11 starts. The defender has been a part of three shut outs this season, playing a significant role on defense.

Gardner-Webb is currently fourth in the country in goals scored per game at 2.63.

After finishing the regular season (8-6-2, 4-2-1 BSC), the Runnin' Bulldogs collected the fifth seed in the Big South Conference tournament. Gardner-Webb will travel to play second-seeded Liberty this Sunday, Nov. 5 at 2:00 PM in Lynchburg in the quarterfinals.
