Runnin’ Bulldogs Fall At Presbyterian in Hard-Fought Five Set Match Saturday Evening

CLINTON, S.C. – Nicole Celerek had a match-high 18 kills, yet the Runnin' Bulldogs would drop a 3-2 decision at Presbyterian in Big South Conference volleyball action on Saturday evening.
The Runnin' Bulldogs would take the first two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-13, yet the Blue Hose would take the final three sets, 25-15, 25-18, and 15-1, to win the match.
GWU falls to 7-20 overall and 1-13 in Big South play, while Presbyterian improves to 8-21 overall and 4-10 in league play.
The Runnin' Bulldogs had 47 total kills throughout the match, hitting at a .117 rate, while Presbyterian had 54 kills with a .259 hitting percentage.
Celerek led the 'Dogs with 18 kills on 43 swings, hitting at a team-best .209 percentage. She also had 10 digs and one service ace. Kaelyn Dyson led the team on the block, tallying two solo blocks and two block assists.
Amanda Sahm and Emma Milstead each had 15 digs to lead GWU, while Sahm also had a match-high 40 assists.
Presbyterian had three attackers reach double-digit kills, led by Allie Wright, who had 15 smashes. Caroline Henderson and Erin Eulitz each had 12 kills on the evening. Wright also led the Blue Hose in blocks with three solo blocks and five block assists.
Daley Gosnell collected a match-high 25 digs for PC, while Jaclyn Brewington led the team in assists with 27.
Gardner-Webb returns home for its final two contests of the 2017 season, starting with Winthrop on Thursday, November 9. The match is set for a 7:00 pm start time and will be broadcast on the Big South Network (www.bigsouthsports.com).
