LYNCHBURG, VA – The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team fell short this evening by a score of 1-0 to conference opponent Liberty in an overtime effort.
Scoreless after 90 minutes of play, Gardner-Webb came out in attack mode as
Roman Eddleman put up a shot just 40 seconds into the period but missed high.
David Kowprowski added the second shot of overtime but missed above the crossbar.
Despite GWU's initial efforts beyond regulation, Liberty's Tresor Mbuyu found the back of the net on the far post to claim victory for the Flames on a tipped pass into the middle from the right of the box at the 98:50 mark in overtime.

Roman Eddleman each tallied one shot while
Magnus Moldjord notched two of his own. Moldjord and Soerlie accounted for Gardner-Webb's only shots on goal in the match with one each.
The Flames offense countered the Runnin' Bulldogs efforts as they recorded 12 shots with six on goal.
Liberty took eight corner kicks tonight while Gardner-Webb was limited to three. Both teams were unable to convert them into scoring opportunities.
The Runnin' Bulldogs goalkeeper Jacob Beyer was sturdy between to posts tonight collecting five saves and allowing zero goals against through regulation. Liberty goalkeeper James Knoebel tallied two saves in the match.
Gardner-Webb drops to (3-3-1, 0-1 BSC) on the year following this evening's match. The 'Dawgs are back in action this Saturday as they travel to Clinton, SC to play Big South opponent Presbyterian at 4:00 PM.
