Runnin' Bulldogs Down Terriers 5-1

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Runnin' Bulldogs notched their first victory of 2017 this evening in a 5-1 win over Wofford College Tuesday evening at Greene-Harbison Stadium.
 
Gardner-Webb dominated on the offensive side of the ball putting up 13 shots, 10 of which were on goal.
 
Midfielder, Magnus Moldjord, opened the scoring for the Runnin' Bulldogs tonight as Petter Johansen took advantage of the Terriers turnover and crossed the ball to Moldjord who found the back of the net to put GWU up 1-0, 22:09 into the match.
 
Severin Soerlie joined in on the scoring action shortly after as he chipped the ball in over the Terriers Goalkeeper at the 23:45 mark to put the Runnin' Bulldogs up 2-0.
 
The Terriers quickly countered GWU's efforts in the 24th minute as Sam Ross scored on the cross from Kevin Davidson.
 
GWU's efforts continued in the second period as Mads Rismoen capitalized on a shot from Jack Hoey that rebounded off the Goalkeeper, which he would go on to knock in to give Gardner-Webb the 3-1 lead.
 
Moldjord added his second goal of the match with 67:34 on the clock as the Terriers Goalkeeper was drawn out of the net, providing an easy opportunity for Moldjord to give GWU a four-goal lead in the second period.
 
As the game got rough late in the match from both sides, Roman Eddleman notched the final goal of the night for the Runnin' Bulldogs with seven minutes remaining.
 
Gardner-Webb Goalkeeper, Jacob Beyer tallied one save, as the Terriers put up just two shots on goal.
 
Two different Terrier Goalkeeper's saw action in tonight's match as Matthew Reynolds notched one save in 27:28 minutes in goal. Hunter Wages would go on to make 4 saves, while allowing three goals as he saw the remaining 62:32 minutes in goal tonight.
 
Gardner-Webb climbs to 1-1-1 after tonight's victory. Their next match is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 8 against Jacksonville University (0-4). The game takes place in Statesboro, G.A..
