Francis Named Big South Women's Lacrosse Freshman of the Week For Third Time

CHARLOTTE – Gardner-Webb midfielder Talen Francis was named Big South Conference Freshman of the Week for the third time on Monday afternoon.

Francis (Kennesaw, Ga. / Kell HS) helped Gardner-Webb to its second road win of the season on Sunday, scoring one goal, dishing off four assists and forcing six turnovers in a 16-3 victory at Delaware State.

For the week, Francis scored six goals, dished off four assists and had 12 ground balls for the Runnin' Bulldogs. She also caused 10 turnovers and had six draw controls in another strong all-around week.

Francis scored four goals in a narrow loss at American on Friday.

For the season, Francis ranks second on the Gardner-Webb stat sheet with 19 goals, adding five assists to rank second with 24 points. She leads the team with 18 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers and ranks second with 18 draw controls.

Francis and the Runnin' Bulldogs (2-5) return to action on Saturday at home, hosting Quinnipiac at Noon in Ernest W. Spangler Stadium.
