Three Runnin’ Bulldogs Earn Big South Women’s Basketball Postseason Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb had three guards earn Big South Women's Basketball postseason honors following the competition of the 2017-18 regular season.
Redshirt senior Tierra Huntsman (Connersville, Ind / Connersville HS) and senior Alexus Hill (Rocky Mount, N.C. / Northern Nash HS) each were named second-team All-Big South, while sophomore Carley Plentovich (Clearwater, Fla. / Calvary Christian HS) was named to the All-Academic team.
Huntsman earned All-Big South honors for the second season in a row, leading the Runnin' Bulldogs with 14.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game, ranking among the Big South leaders in each category.
She had nine games with 20 or more points, matching her career-high twice, both in wins over Wofford (Dec. 5) and Converse (Dec. 30), and also had four double-doubles throughout the season.
Hill averaged a career-best 14.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest throughout the season and was Gardner-Webb's scoring leader in Big South games, averaging 14.2 points per game.
She scored in double-digits in all but five contests, including three games with 20 or more points had two double-doubles.
Plentovich averaged 7.8 points and 2.7 rebounds throughout the regular season, setting a new career-high of 24 points at Presbyterian (Jan. 16) and then matching that point total at Charleston Southern (Feb. 17). She also set a new career-high of nine rebounds at High Point (Jan. 2).
Gardner-Webb (18-12, 8-10 Big South) earned the No. 7 seed in the 2018 Big South Women's Basketball Championship, and will travel to Lynchburg, Va. on Thursday to battle No. 10 seed Winthrop.
