CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the sixth time this season, Katie Prebble has received an honor from the Big South Conference. This time, she was named Freshman of the Week for games played the week of April 16.

Prebble belted her first home run of the week in a 6-2 victory against the Charlotte 49ers. Her second homer of the week and 22nd of the season, came in the opening game of the Big South Conference Series against the Radford Highlanders.
Prior to the weekend series against Radford, in an 8-0 win against South Carolina State, Prebble was 2-for-2 with an RBI single and two-run triple.
For the year, she is batting .432 with 22 home runs and 67 RBIs. She has a slugging percentage of 1.030. She leads the NCAA in home runs (22), RBIs (67) and total bases (130) while siting second in home runs per game, RBIs per game and slugging percentage.
Prebble is currently just five home runs away from breaking the team's career record of 26, set by Mandy Ward. Ward played from 2007-2010.

The current list of 25 candidates will be narrowed down to 10 on May 10, with the top three finalists being announced on May 23. The winner will be announced during a live ceremony at the Women's College World Series banquet on May 29.
Gardner-Webb will return to action for non-conference doubleheader at Appalachian State on Wednesday. First pitch of the twinbill between the Runnin' Bulldogs and Mountaineers is scheduled for 3 p.m. from Boone, N.C.
