Kylee Garrison Earns Big South Volleyball Freshman of the Week Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb outside hitter Kylee Garrison has been named this week's Big South Conference Freshman of the Week after having a stellar outing at the 2018 Phoenix Classic, as announced by the league office earlier today.
Garrison (Huntersville, N.C. / Southlake Christian Academy) paced the Gardner-Webb attack throughout the week, collecting 41 kills on 114 swings for a .167 attacking percentage. She also added 28 digs, three services aces, and two blocks in GWU's three matches to earn All-Tournament honors.
Friday afternoon, Garrison tallied 12 kills and 14 digs to lead the Runnin' Bulldogs to a four-set win over North Carolina Central.
Saturday, Garrison had 16 kills in a tough five-set loss to Evansville and collected 13 kills and 11 digs in a tightly-contested four set bout against Elon.
Garrison is the second GWU freshman to earn Big South Freshman of the Week honors in as many weeks, as her teammate Hannah Donaldson was recognized for her efforts during the opening weekend of the 2018 season.
Gardner-Webb returns to action Thursday afternoon, opening the 2018 Pirate Invitational in Greenville, N.C. at 4:00 pm against Charlotte.
