Cross Country Boasts Record-Setting Performances at VertCross Invitational Friday Afternoon

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – Five new personal records were set Friday afternoon as the Gardner-Webb men's and women's cross country teams took part in the VertCross Invitational, hosted by High Point University at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville, N.C.
The event began with the women's 6K race, in which Sandra Bolstad paced the Runnin' Bulldogs with a personal-best time of 24:15.45. She was followed closely by Hannah Jones, who set a PR at 25:17.17. Faith Parandhamaia clocked in with a time of 26:08.48 to set a new personal record, while Logan McGuirt finished at 28:02.13 and Courtney Kanetzke timed in at a personal-best 29:01.00.
Matthew Cloninger led GWU in the men's 8K race, timing in with a personal best result of 31:00.6. Bogdan Podgaisky crossed the finish line at 34:29.5, and Cole Ray clocked in at 37.22.6.
Gardner-Webb will now set its sights on the 2019 Big South Conference Cross Country Championships, taking place on Saturday, November 2. The day begins with the men's 8K race at 10:30 am, followed by the women's 5K race at 11:30 am, both taking place at the Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lillington, N.C.
