BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb volleyball team fell to visiting Radford in straight sets in Big South Conference action inside Paul Porter Arena on Friday night.
Gardner-Webb (2-15, 0-6 Big South) fought hard throughout the evening in a tightly contested bout that saw 23 ties and 11 lead changes, but would drop all three sets to Radford (6-12, 2-4 Big South) by scores of 26-24, 25-17, and 25-22.
The Runnin' Bulldogs totaled 34 kills on 106 swings for a .151 attack percentage, while the Highlanders tallied 45 smashes on 104 attempts, attacking at a .269 clip.
Elizabeth Griffith paced the GWU attack with eight kills on 16 swings.
Madi Riggs proved a team-high 13 assists.
Charissa Coleman led the 'Dogs with 14 digs, while
Hannah Donaldson had a match-high five total blocks.
The Radford offense was led by both Hailey Flowers and Esmadar Tavares, who each had 12 kills. Maddie Lentz dished out a match-best 19 assists.
Grace Green led the Highlanders with 13 digs, while Kennedi Johnson had four total blocks to lead that effort.
The Runnin' Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 pm, hosting High Point inside Paul Porter Arena.
